Telecom Co CLD Forays into LED Drivers

CLD Electronics & Telecom, the Meerut-based manufacturer of mobile chargers, has forayed into production of LED drivers. With this new category of products, the company is looking to build alliance with LED lighting manufacturers across the country. CLD has amanufacturing unit for telecom products at Haridwar in Uttarakhand, and is producing drivers in the same location.To increase visibility, CLD participated in the recently organised LED Expoin New Delhi.

Speaking about this diversification, Pranav Mohta (pranavmohta@myacl.com), business manager of the company informed, “We have been into the field of EPABX systems and mobile chargers for almost 20 years. However, the LED driver segment is just a year old venture, which we started after sensing theincreasing potential in the country. Our drivers, manufactured for a range of 100V-300V AC input, are the best suited for Indian conditions.”

Mohta added that the company is looking for channel partners across the country. It is also interested to develop OEM ties with lighting manufacturers. “We are looking for channel partners in different regions. Participating in LED Expo has helped greatly, as we have already received more than a 100 business inquiries and expect to get some more. Most of these inquiries have come from big and medium players of the LED sector,” explained a visibly happy Mohta.

CLD plans to enter the luminaire segment at a later stage, and is in touch with companies like Edison, Cree and Osram for supply of LED bulbs.
