Belgium Signage Major Enters Indian Market

Cosign nv, the Belgium-based manufacturer of architectural sign systems, is expanding its base in the Indian market. It has recently set up a joint venture company Cosign India Pvt Ltd based in Pune and has established a network of over 20 authorised convertors in different cities, and is in the process of starting manufacturing here. To promote its products,the company participated in the recently organised LED Expo in New Delhi. Its other joint venture outside Belgium is in Mexico, and it caters to markets in more than 80 countries through a network of channel partners.

The product ranges on display at the expo included LED Thinlite, ProfiLED and SoLED. LED Thinlite is a LED-based sign system that can be used in different outdoor applications. Bert Fransens (bert@cosign.be), executive director of Cosign nv, informed,“LED Thinlite is an ultra thin illuminated display that combines all the benefits of LED lighting. Available in standard poster sizes, this product is highly useful for point-of-sale retail places and cinemas. On the other hand ProfiLED consists of a multi-functional panel clamp which holds the light guided plate. It is elegant, compact and slim for big sizedapplications like bus terminals and railway stations. The third product SoLED is a rounded, curved or squared silveranodised or mill finished profile. It is mainly used in hospitals, hotels,shopping malls and governmental buildings.”

Also present at the expo was Kapil Purandare (kapil@cosign.in), executive director of Cosign India Pvt Ltd, who gave a brief of the company’s plans in India. “We are looking for more partners across the country. The basic criteriafor a prospective partner is that he should already be in the signage industry. “ Purandare added that the company’s Indian manufacturing will augment the supplies from Belgium.

According to the executives, Cosign India the company is also distributor for LED products from SloanLEd, a 50-year-old company headquartered in California USA, which has been working in the field of LEDs for over three decades.
