RR Kabel Launches Aluminium Cables, Sets Up New Facility

RR Kabel Ltd, the cables and wires arm of Ram Ratna Group, has diversified its portfolio by adding aluminium wires to its range. Termed as LT Aluminium, this range consists of aluminium RBD, single core 1000 sqmm and multiple core 630 sqmm wires. The alluminium range will be supplied to projects, while running sizes,  5 & 10mm, will be available through retail.

The LT Aluminium range calls for high volumes, and in order to cater to its continuous demand, the company has set up a new manufacturing unit. Located at Waghodia near Vadodara in Gujarat, the new facility is spread across an area of 3 lakh sft. “We have acquired a larger plot so that further expansion is possible when we have to increase capacity,” avers Balachandran Dharmen (balachandran.dharmen@ramratna.com), director of the company. Dharmen informs that the state-of-art facility will have machinery coming in from various countries including Italy, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Austria, and France. “Some of the technology has also been sourced from China and Taiwan.  Aluminium is being procured from Hindalco. An investment of about Rs.2,500 crore has been made in this project.”

Talking about capacity Dharmen informs, “We are presently producing about 100 tonnes per month against orders. We are receiving a lot of enquires, as the number of projects is growing rapidly and this will require us to increasecapacity. We plan to achieve 1,000 tonnes per month within the next six months,and further triple it by the end of the second half of the year.”

According to Dharmen, RR Kabel has recently received some critical certifications for its products and production systems. “Now we have certifications including ISO 9001 and BASEC under the Quality Management Systems category. We already have the IS 694 and IS 7098 certifications.” He asserts that RR Kabel is providing the 3 key needs of cable buyers, quality in terms of safety, a strong brand name, and timeliness in completing orders.
